"強く 前へ 進め"

Just finished watching a very sad but meaningful Japanese drama called 1リットルの涙 (Ichi Rittoru no Namida) - 1 Litre of Tears. Think I cried almost throughout the whole series. *sobb* The title does live up to its name eh. So be prepared with at least a box of tissues if u decide to watch this heart-warming series! (mum, I think you will use up a whole box of tissue if u ever watch this!)

This beautifully moving drama is based on the real-life struggles of a 15-year-old girl named Kitou Aya who suffered from an incurable disease called Spinocerebellar Degeneration (cerebellum of the brain gradually deteriorates to the point where the patient cannot walk, speak, write, or eat) when she was 15 years old, but lived life to the fullest until her death at 25. The script is based on the diary that Aya wrote about her struggles and deepest thoughts until the day she could no longer hold a pen. Her diary '1 Litre of Tears' was later published because of its inspiring and courageous messages that makes people happy for the simple fact that they are alive, and gives hope to those who suffers from diseases and also make them think positively about living instead of giving up easily. One of her simplest yet strongest message is "Just being alive is such a lovely and wonderful thing"

Aya was touched by the unconditional love, support and patience shown by her family and friends. She learned to accept her cruel 'fate' by 'living' her life bravely and positively. Her integrity is inspiring, and I really feel humbled by her words and actions. God must have sent her as an Angel to bring hope to those who are sick or those who are struggling to cope with the difficulties in life, to change lives by inspiring each and everyone of us and also to remind us to be thankful for every second that we're alive. So folks, no matter how hard it is or how much hurt you are going through, you just have to be strong and have faith in God and also in those who love and care for you. I'll leave you with a phrase from the main song of this series,
"強く tsuyoku 前へ mae he 進め susume " which means 'Be strong, Go forward, Move ahead'.
