Hmm... It was a very relaxing weekend... albeit the stupendous Merdeka celebrations, I got to spend quality time with my family and a few of my close friends. It would have been perfect if bro was here with us too. Sob… miss ya ‘boy’!
People say that time goes by faster when you have good company. I find that very true indeed. Perhaps that’s why we tend to feel that our weekends and holidays pass by in a flash! It was only bout 2 months ago that my brother was back for his summer break… and now he’s back in Ukraine again. Sigh. It certainly feels as though he was back just yesterday. Oh well, in 10 months… he’ll be home again… ‘Til then bro, take good care of yourself and angel too! Hope Ukraine’s treating you well! :)
Quality time with family and friends is very important. No matter how busy our lives may be, we should spend some time with them. I guess being able to have dinner as a family is good enough for most parents. But a lil extra time won’t hurt! An outing together would be good… or just a simple thing like watching a movie together instead of spending all the time in front of the computer as most ppl do nowadays. Even I myself do hog the computer at times. But I’ve been trying not too because I’m glad that I could still have them by my side, to see, to hug and to talk to. I love chatting with my mum and dad in their room… especially when they tell me about my childhood days or… theirs (which I think most parents luv doin!). As I mature into the fine lady that I am now (hee hee), I understood the meaning of unconditional love; being that my parents would give up anything and everything just to see me through. I would say that they have groomed and molded me well (forgive my 'perasan-ness' :P). I thank God that I have such wonderful parents who loves me unconditionally :)
Last Thursday, my 2 close friends and I had drinks at my place. Just to chill out and catch up. Pretty relaxing, creating our own concoctions… midori, vodka, Bacardi, whisky with sprite & lemon. We had nuts, chocs and ice cream too. It was kinda like a slumber party. Hahaa. Just without the sleepover. :P We drank and chatted til it was nearly 4am! Hehe. It’s amazing how a few hours of chillin’ strengthen the bond of our friendship. Maybe we could have one with a sleepover next time eh girls? :D
Hmm… with the merdeka hols over, I guess it’s back to my unexciting life all over again… where I would be sitting in front of the computer aimlessly searching for things to do or bugging my friends who are at work on MSN. Sigh. Yea yea… I neeed a life! A job too!! Keeping my fingers crossed!! :P okie, time to hit the sack, nitey!

mission failed... hahaa...
Hmm... getting a gift for a friend isn't really the easiest thing to do! Well, especially if it's for a close friend. You would tend to worry if he/she would like it, if it's his/her style, if it fits, if that's what he/she is looking or hoping for...and plus, the older we are, the harder it is to get gifts. I tend to look for items that are practical yet meaningful. Flowers or perfumes aren't top of my to -buy list. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind receiving them as gifts :P ** hypocrite** hahaaaa.... nah... i just don't like giving someone something that at the end of the day has no sentimental values. Hmmm.. maybe that's why i find buying gifts soooo hard! ahahaaa... *smack own forehead*!
Anyways, went on a mission to buy gifts today... end up buying a tee for myself. Oh oh.. no... actually bought one for dad too (pic below: in white tho). It's from bossini- The Simpsons. Super cute! Supposedly for father's day but since the movie is out today, they (i think) put it up for sale again at a special price. Which i think is a pretty smart move! Well, at least they got my attention. hahaaa. Hopefully, my dad would wear it. We'll see. hahaha... I think he'll just wear it to bed. hahahaaaa. oh well, better than not wearing at all aye? :p Hrmmm.... Now i knw how my mum felt when I didn't wear the PINK tee she bought me from HK. Sorry mummy! I love youuuuuu :p

Gonna watch The Simpsons movie tmrrw! can't wait!!~~ maybe i should wear the tee i got today. Hahahaaaa... isn't it a cutey!! couldn't resist it. The outline of Bart are of the phrases he says in the cartoon! can't see it from the pic... but yea... you get the picture. :P

Hug-huggy-hugz!!!
I love getting hugs!! and giving hugs too! :) A lil hug can mean so much. It can be a simple sign of love and affection or comfort and support.

How it all started? He was living in London but had to return to Sydney when things turned upsidedown. When he arrived at the Syd Airport, no one was there to welcome him. No smiles, no welcome hugs. Seeing how others had family and friends welcoming them with smilling faces and hugs, he too wanted that same feeling. So he decided to hold a cardboard with "FREE HUGS" written on both sides at the busiest intersection in the city. Little did he knw that this was the start of something phenomenal! After 15 mins of stares, people started giving him hugs and some even volunteered to give out free hugs. Awesome huh??

Hmmm... haven't been getting any proper hugs. Mostly, hugs that kinda say " Don't you dare come too close!!". Maybe I stink...?? hahaaa. Oh well, maybe it's jst not common for some people to hug each other unless there's something depressing happening to that someone or when someone's leaving home for somewhere far. Which is really a nice thing to do... But I guess, hugs can be shared anytime, be it happy or sad, or jst to say hi after a week or more of not seeing one another. You can hug someone after dinner or 'yum cha' to say goodnight, take care, meet up again... somewhere along those lines. hehe. Sometimes, I do miss my friends in NZ because it's just a norm to hug each other when we meet!
Hmm.. maybe tt's why the Free Hugs Campaign started by a guy known as Juan Mann who wanted reach out and hug a stranger to brighten up their lives.

In fact, 7/07/2007 was declared the Free Hugs day in order to support the campaign! Awww... I didn't knw that!! would have gone on the streets! hahaaa... Oh well, everyday can be a free hugs day aye? Just give your family and friends a big warm hug!!

I have an accent... a kiwi accent!!
Haha.. couldn't believe it. My aunt's fren from NZ said i speak like a kiwi. Wahahaa... i tot i have a very strong Malaysian accent. hmm.. but of coz i speak to them (kiwis) with a kiwi accent. After all, I have been there for a 5 yrs. I'm sure anyone would have picked up the accent by then. I know someone who actually speaks totally like a kiwi after a year in NZ! She speaks to her parents or other malaysians with a kiwi accent! sheesh... some ppl just don't remember their roots. SIGH! what a shame!
Back to my initial topic. Don't think kiwis can understand our "fast-paced" malaysian english. hahaa. Maybe some do. But most of them, they normally go... 'sorry i didn't get you??'. I must say that kiwis do speak a bit slower and clearer. Maybe most of them think that Asians can't speak fluently or we have difficulty understanding them if they spoke too fast. Well, true for some but definitely not true for most Malaysians. We do study English in school and most ppl are surprised that we have a pretty good command of English. It's only the accent that makes it sound as though we are speaking in another language. I still remember, during my first year in University, my taiwanese fren (kiwi born) asked if my fren and I were conversing in a malaysian language, when we were actually speaking in english, but with the accent. hehe.
Oh well, hahaa... i still speak with a malaysian accent as far as i'm concerned. At least i don't go speaking to my fellow malaysians in that way. I'm a Malaysian and will always be proud to be one! :)

A penny for your thoughts?
Hmm.. was just thinking bout this whole blogging thingy. It is possible for any tom, dick or harry to read all our blabberings. Well, even if you don't mind ppl that you don't know reading them, what about the he/she that you blogged about? especially if it's about something negative. They could easily read them too. It might be alright for those whom you are not going to see or meet ever again, ut what about those whom you would be seeing in the near future? Wouldn't that make it worse? i.e. enemies in the making?? Why not just tell them how you feel and work something out? Wouldn't that be a better solution?
I know that blogging is the norm nowadays. A modern version of a diary/ journal. But ain't a diary meant to be private, just for ourselves? I'm not saying that it is entirely wrong, but I guess what I'm trying to say is that we can blog about anything, anything under the sun, but maybe we should be more tactful, especially when we are blogging about something sensitive something that could bring about hatred/hurt or even create unfavourable situations. We are all human beings and nobody is made perfect. We are all susceptible to experiencing anger, dissatisfaction, depression, bitterness or hopelessness some time in our lives. So try not to let these ugly emotions mar us from the beauty of life that has been given to us...
Hmm... a lot of you might beg to differ, but that's my penny for your thoughts...
